Dog Walking
Bookings for dog walking can be made as recurring bookings or one off bookings.
types of walks available
Solo Walks – Solo walks are tailored to your dogs needs as it just me and your dog(s). First timers will be asked to go on a solo walk so I can assess them for future walks. These walks are best suited to high energy levels, extra strong/large dogs and timid dogs. A solo walk can also be a run if there is extra energy to burn! Trips to the park can be off-leash with your permission.
Group Walks – Group walks are social walks with no more than four dogs being walked together. Dogs will be matched as much as possible with dogs of a similar size and energy level to make it a more enjoyable walk for everyone. Although your dog will spend a small amount of time in the car to pick up their walking buddies, the walk itself will be a full hour. Dogs on group walks will be kept on-lead unless otherwise discussed. Group walks are only available on week days.

benefits of dog walking
energy expenditure
Some breeds are much more energetic than others, but nearly all dogs have energy to burn. Separation anxiety or boredom can result when dogs are left alone during the day. Signs your dog may be suffering include barking, scratching and biting at themselves, digging, chewing and destruction of furniture and yards. A good walk every day can help to tire your dog out, reducing these behaviours.
Should your dog have extra energy to burn, I’m happy to take them running rather than walking, however this can only be done as a solo walk rather than group walk.
socialisation
Dog are naturally pack animals and love to explore, roam and play. Walking in groups or taken to the dog park, your dog will have contact with other dogs and people which can make them a more confident and social dog.
If you happen to have a timid dog I can start with solo walks until their confidence is such that they will enjoy a group walk.
exercise/weight loss
If your dog has been over-doing it with treats, regular walking will help to shift those couple of kilos they may need to lose. As with humans, an increase in activity needs to be done gradually. We would be better to start off with shorter walks, more frequently to get your dog to a healthy weight again. If your dog is severely overweight, please consult your vet before we start out on a walking routine.
daytime attention
For those who have long days at work and just want your dog to be entertained, a daytime walk might be just the thing they need. Park plays are much more fun in daylight. If you find it hard to get home before sunset I’m happy to take them to the park for a play and leave their street walks for you.
